Position: Friends of the Library Intern
Location: Carlisle, Pennsylvania

Schedule/Hours: This is a one-year, temporary, full-time internship
Typically 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday, with some evening and weekend work required.
Time Frame: Beginning July 1, 2017
If you are considering graduate study in an information field and/or planning a career as an information professional or in a related field, this internship will allow you to gain experience and learn valuable new skills while exploring your career options. Specific areas of responsibility include serving as a teaching assistant for classes taught by librarians, helping to maintain the Dickinson Scholar online institutional repository, and assisting with promoting library resources and services. You will receive supervised practical training in various areas of library and information management, while working collaboratively with Library staff to ensure continuous and high quality service
Bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College received by the start date. Dickinson alumni concurrently enrolled in an online library/information science graduate program are also welcome to apply.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service and must be able to adapt readily to a constantly changing service and research environment. Should be proficient at undergraduate research and exhibit outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Experience or aptitude for effective teaching, training, or public speaking is strongly desired. Should exhibit an ability to learn web-based applications quickly. Excellent interpersonal skills. Close attention to detail and good organizational skills are essential. Other necessary skills include the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, to plan, and to make sound decisions.
