Coordinate the Summer Learning Challenge Program at the Main and possibly Grand Library, which entails assisting with planning and carrying out summer reading activities for ages 0-17, leading sign-up efforts for the Learning Challenge, distributing prizes to successful readers, creating book lists, and displays, keeping statistics, keeping books, booklets, and prizes stocked. Assist with the supervision of the Reader Leader tutoring program taking place at the Main Library, which includes supervising the tutoring pairs, assisting with activity plans, and answering questions.
Outcomes:
Provide engaging activities and programs for children ages 0-17 in order to encourage them to maintain reading skills through the summer and instill a life long love of libraries and literacy in youth. Assist struggling readers in improving their reading skills through a peer tutoring program while engaging older students in a positive mentoring process.
