Position: Hunter Collection Cataloging Intern

Location: Chicago Illinois

Schedule/Hours:   25 hours per week

Time Frame:  WK 5/1– WK 5/22

Compensation $10.50 per/hr

Under the guidance of a mentor, the Hunter Collection Intern will be organizing, cataloging, and possibly scanning posters, photographs, artifacts, and other special collection materials from the World War I Hunter Collection.


             Excellent communications skills

             Computer orientation skills

             Attention to detail

             Ability to work in teams and independently

             Research skills

             Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

             Excellent written and oral communication skills

             Master’s degree level course work in Library Science or Public History

             Experience or familiarity with Cataloging

             Experience or familiarity with Archival work



             Rehouse Special Collection materials

             Organizing and Inventory Special Collection materials

             Collect metadata per cataloging standards

             Create catalog records both in OCLC and in local ILS

             Use large and medium format scanner to digitize Special Collection materials

             Add digitized image and metadata to CONTENTdm
