Richland Library seeks to hire a dependable, organized, knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and motivated intern to assist in the Film and Sound Department of Main Library in various functions

Work 10 weeks within the dates of June 1 through August 31, 2017, including working every other weekend. (Please see section: “Basic information about the job: Location, salary, hours” on page 2 for more information about the schedule.)

Here are some of the things you would be doing in this position:

 

  • Assimilating and coordinating relevant information.
  • Performing work as needed or as assigned relating to all aspects of the operation of the Film and Sound Department.
  • Assisting customers at the service desk and on the floor.
  • Answering calls.
  • Pulling holds.
  • Shelving material; and moving material.
  • Maintaining the collection.
  • Working on special projects.
  • Performing other associated duties as required or assigned.

Richland Library seeks to hire a dependable, organized and motivated intern to assist in the Business, Careers and Research Center in various functions. You should apply if you are interested in having a wonderful learning opportunity this summer. Work will include helping library customers with computer use to perform a variety of tasks. A major focus of the work will include helping individuals find employment through the use of the Business, Careers and Research Center career-related resources.

The job will be 10 to 12 hours per week, such as 3 (for example) four-hour shifts per week. Days of the week will be negotiable according to the needs of the intern.

The ideal dates for the job will be 5/1/17-7/28/17. A later start date may be considered

Richland Library seeks to hire a dependable, organized and motivated intern to assist in the Walker Local and Family History Center in various functions, including but not limited to materials digitization and archival preservation.

The ideal candidate will commit to 20 hours per week with scheduling accommodations considered. Appreciation for history and for the appropriate safeguarding of history-related information; and ability to organize, manage, and coordinate related tasks, are among the characteristics and skills for which we are looking.

Here are some of the things you would be doing in this position:

  • Assimilating and coordinating relevant information.
  • Performing assigned work related to digitization and/or archival preservation.
  • Working unsupervised on a variety of assignments including digitization projects, materials processing, and preparing selected local history materials for public accessibility.

VACANCY # 2420-13 CHILDREN’S ROOM INTERN

Richland Library seeks to hire a dependable, organized and motivated intern to assist in the work of the Children’s Room. The work will be performed in various sections of the Main Library during a time when the Children’s Room itself is under renovation and therefore closed along with the entire Garden level of the Main Library. The intern may provide assistance in the Family Career Studio as needed. The intern will perform work on other Children’s Room related projects throughout the summer. Projects may include traveling with Children’s Room staff to Outreach Summer Reading Camps and assisting in the delivery of programs in such settings.

Here are some of the things you would be doing in this position:

  • Working closely with children and families, interacting with children of all ages.
  • Assisting generally with the work of the Children’s Room staff.
  • Assisting in delivering programs at Outreach Summer Reading Camps and similar settings.
  • Working with families and children in the Family Career Studio.
  • Performing work on Children’s Room related projects.
  • Shelving children’s materials, and helping to maintain Children’s Room temporary collection.
  • Performing other associated duties as required or assigned.

Completion of at least 2 years of high school and attainment of at least age 16.

Evidence of interest in public library service and especially in providing excellent service to customers.

Additional skills and abilities as required by the job.

Ability to perform job functions.

Minimum Time/Work Commitment Expected:

  • Expectations are that the intern will complete 20 hours per week for 10 weeks.
  •  A set schedule will be expected. There may be flexibility with the dates such as an earlier start date or later ending date, although this would still include a total of 10 weeks of work.

Richland Library seeks to hire a dependable, organized, motivated, and creative INTERN to assist the library’s Programs and Partnerships team in various functions in summer 2017. 20 hours per week with a set schedule expected.

We are looking to hire an intern who is capable of teamwork and initiative to help provide exemplary customer experiences.

Here are some of the things you would be doing in this position:

  • Assisting the work of supervisors in the Programs and Partnerships department.
  • Assisting with 2017 summer “feeding programs”; assisting with sign-ups for Summer Learning Challenge;

and assisting with various events during the library’s Summer Learning Challenge.

  • Moving furnishings, furniture, materials, and equipment.
  • Performing data entry.
  • Assimilating and coordinating relevant information.
  • Performing other associated duties as required or assigned.
