The Portland Cement Association (PCA), founded in 1916, is the premier policy, research, education, and market intelligence organization serving America’s cement manufacturers. The Association promotes safety, sustainability, and innovation in all aspects of construction, fosters continuous improvement in cement manufacturing and distribution, and generally promotes economic growth and sound infrastructure investment. Portland Cement Association’s Library offers a variety of information services to PCA Members, related industry groups, and others seeking information on all aspect of cement and concrete. The Library holds one of the world’s largest collections of information on cement and concrete, more than 100,000 materials. Founded in 1938, the Library maintains and continually updates its collection with important material on cement chemistry, concrete technologies, manufacturing process, environmental technologies, and health and safety issues related to the industry.

Schedule/Hours: Full-time

Time Frame:  Summer

The primary responsibility of the Intern is to assist the library staff with digitization and archiving projects.

Job duties include:

  • Assist staff in processing archival materials, including print and audiovisual materials.
  • Preparation and scanning of archival materials.
  • Formatting, editing, and enhancements of digital files.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.



  • Students currently enrolled in the Master of Library Information Science program, or the Certificate or Associate degree in Library Technical Assistant (LTA) program, or equivalent combination of training and experiences.
  • Knowledge of or experience in archives is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented and high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Self-motivated, dependable, enthusiastic, and ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift medium duty boxes.
