Position: Walking Tour, Leesburg Public Library

This internship, located within Thomas Balch Library, is designed to provide graduate students an opportunity to obtain practical experience in researching, interpreting and presenting local, social and architectural history. The intern will participate in planning, designing , and implementing a self-guided audio walking tour of downtown Leesburg.
Schedule/Hours: 10AM to 4PM Monday through Friday.
Time Frame: Summer
The main tasks of this internship will include assisting with research and identifying sites and events to be included in the tour, curation and design of tour content, identification methods for delivering tour content and promotion of the tour once created. The Intern may also assist in the creation of associated materials such as online maps, printed brochures, or other tools.
BA/BS in a related field (history; genealogy, archives; library science; historic preservation, architecture)
Creating and delivering walking tours; podcasts, exhibits, or other such presentations; familiarity with mapping and GIS
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, web-design and current tools for capturing and editing audio
Enrolled in an MA/MS program in historic preservation; tourism; history; public history or architectural history
Public speaking; research in an analysis of primary sources and excellent writing skills
Bilingual in English/Spanish
