The NYPD Video Production Unit offers a paid graduate internship for this summer. We are looking for an MA or PhD candidate in records management / archival management / library science. If the student has any special experience in video archives that would be very helpful.
The selected intern will work under the direction of the Video Production Unit’s Public Records Officer/Archivist. Duties include cataloging collection of VHS/SVHS/U-matic video tapes; develop meta-data schemas; transfer of materials to a climate controlled vault.
Our large collection of media which includes nearly 10,000 VHS, Super-VHS and ¾-inch tapes dating back to the 1970s, and which includes the entire collection of the former New York City Transit Police Department. The intern would also assist the archivist in quality control and inventory tracking of the Video Production Unit’s 16mm film collection as it returns from our digitization vendor.
The Video Production Unit is a dynamic, fast-paced video production facility located in Manhattan on East 20th Street at Third Avenue.
