Description:

Work under the supervision of the Kenosha Public Library Outreach Coordinator to complete tasks, lead programs and events, attend meetings and assist in certain outreach activities in support of the City of Kenosha Parks Alliance summer parks programs.

Example of Duties & Responsibilities

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Oversee or assist with various programs and events offered by the department, including but not limited to: youth programming, adult programming and family events.

Create, oversee and implement a new program/event as it fits the summer parks program needs and budget.

Work with library staff to assist, shadow and/or perform assigned tasks including: record keeping, calendar management, social media.

Prepare reports and other documents such as operating activity and statistical reports.

Attend meetings associated with the parks project including, department staff meetings, and neighborhood committee meetings.

Maintain a flexible work schedule that fits the needs of the department’s programs, events and meeting needs. Some evenings and weekends required.

Develop public understanding and participation in parks and recreation programs through public relations activities.

Interpret to the public the program, its philosophy and objectives through all suitable means.

Establish and maintain cooperative planning and working relationships with other public and volunteer community agencies.

Achieve public relations objectives through speaking engagements and use of media.

Observe and participate in evaluation research demonstrating participant impact on student achievement with UW Parkside education faculty.

Perform other duties as prescribed by KPL Outreach Coordinator or designated supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
A) Declared major/minor within education or related field of study or other related degree, with an approved educational institution.
B) Valid Wisconsin driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications
A) Experience with public programming.
B) Experience in using Google Apps.
C) Experience in using social media
D ) Spanish language proficiency

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A) Strong verbal and written communication skills.
B) Ability to develop public understanding and participation in parks and recreation programs through public relations activities.
C) Ability to interpret to the public the program, its philosophy and objectives through all suitable means.
D) Ability to establish and maintain cooperative planning and working relationships with other public and volunteer community agencies.
E) Ability to achieve public relation objectives through speaking engagements and use of media.
