Description:

California State Archives Graduate Intern Program provides a structured training program for its interns, which includes explanation and hands–on experience in many stages of archival work from reference to processing. In exchange, interns must commit to 20 hours a week of work and at least a year commitment. Interns are paid according to the state schedule for student interns (currently $11.50 an hour to start).

Depending on circumstances, and after appropriate training by other archivists, each intern will:

  • receive records that are transferred to the State Archives
  • process documents received into the State Archives
  • compile finding aids and guides to archival holdings and edit them for publication
  • provide reference services to scholars and the general public in the use of archival materials
  • retrieve and refile documents requested by researchers
  • use electronic collection management systems to enter and revise information about collections

How to Apply: Submit a complete application by the July 7 deadline via the University Enterprises, Inc. website. https://ueijobs.peopleadmin.com/ Interested students are welcome to visit the Archives before applying. Tours can be arranged through the intern coordinator.
