Bridgeton Free Public Library is seeking an intern to work with library staff in processing materials added to the libraries collection. The intern would also be responsible for assisting with the circulation desk and the public, cataloging new materials, and working in team environment.. If the intern proves success a full-time position may be offered

Time Frame:  July 1st to September 15th, 2017

Responsibilities:

The specific duties of this internship may include:

  • Creating database records;
  • Creating collection guides and other basic finding aids
  • Assisting with circulation
  • Communicating with library staff

Qualifications:

  • Able to sort and organize various materials by subject
  • Strong computer skills
  • Customer service in a public environment
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Dewey Decimal system
  • Basic understanding of library cataloging and classification
  • Must be dependable, self-motivated, and able to lift and move up to 30 lbs. Course work in archival practice is preferred
