Description: Grand Valley State University Libraries seeks applications for a 2018-2020 Library Faculty Diversity Fellow. This three-year faculty position provides an opportunity for an early-career librarian, with a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, to gain professional experience as an academic librarian and faculty member. The Libraries seek to hire for growth with a focus on being a self-starter with confident humility and curiosity as well as strong time management skills, while we commit to growing the fellow’s digital and research skills.
The fellow will gain meaningful work experience in GVSU Libraries with a focus on digital projects and services, including open data, open scholarship, scholarly communications and publishing, data visualization, and related initiatives. Serving as the experimental lead for digital scholarship service exploration with mentoring and support from other librarians, the fellow will gain project management and service assessment experience. The fellow will have the opportunity to work with librarians in the other departments and participate in projects to gain experience in the areas that pique their interests through a rotation program. Close collaboration with faculty in the libraries and the university will be emphasized.
The fellowship will offer many opportunities for professional development. The fellow will be encouraged to deliver presentations, attend national and regional conferences, and write for professional publications. Financial support for professional development opportunities will be provided. The fellow will serve on library committees as appropriate and participates in the Libraries’ mentoring program.
