Eligibility High school diploma or its equivalent   Familiarity with the Library of Congress call number system, and  experience with Microsoft Excel

The Interlibrary Services (ILS) Student Assistant supports the Library’s resource sharing activities through Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and Consortium Loan Service (CLS). The student assistant processes ILL and CLS requests, and tracks resource sharing usage data, fines, unclaimed loans, and shipped items. The incumbent may also assist with additional projects for the ILS department.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Processing incoming and outgoing CLS book and article requests, as well as Document Delivery article requests
  • Shelving, retrieving, and transporting books and other print materials
  • Packaging and shipping outgoing library materials
  • Processing and checking in incoming materials
  • Uploading journal articles to patron accounts
  • Distributing articles to other libraries by fax or email
  • Assisting patrons locate books in the stacks
