Description: The Old Dominion University Libraries are pleased to offer the inaugural F. Ludwig Diehn Music Scholars in Residency program to further research and engagement using the Libraries music special collections. We encourage applicants to think creatively about new uses for the music special collections. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate the greatest potential for publication and innovative use of the collections. Residents will be required to write a brief overview of their research experience and will also be asked to present a presentation or lecture on their research.

The F. Ludwig Diehn Composers Room is named for renowned composer F. Ludwig Diehn, who donated original manuscripts of his compositions to be housed with those of other eminent composers in the Diehn Composers Room. The music special collections primarily contain personal papers and working materials of composers, conductors, music producers, and arts organizations including scores, recordings, notes, letters, and performance information. The collections are intended to provide study materials on the individual/organization, the work, the creative process of composition, and other questions and interests related to music.
