Position: Processing Archivist
Eligibility must be enrolled in a local university as a full-time college student with a GPA of 2.5 or better. Enrollment in History-related major preferred.. Proof of full-time status and copies of transcripts are required prior to interview
Location: Newport News, Virginia
Company/Organization Jefferson Science Associates, LLC (JSA) manages and operates the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab)
Schedule/Hours work a minimum of 18 hours per week, with the maximum being 20 hours per week during school sessions, and 40 hours per week between school sessions (spring break, summer break, and winter break).
Time Frame: year-round
Compensation: $23,600 – $34,000
Description Archive processing, updating and/or creating finding aids and collection guides; potentially helping develop displays for the Lab; aiding the Processing Archivist in archive maintenance and collections
Aiding the Information Resources team with library books and inter-library loan requests.; boxing and sorting documents for federal record storage.
Essential Job Functions:
processing (to include: sorting, labeling. boxing, inventory of materials) that
are accessioned into Lab Archives; updating finding aids as necessary
Checking OCLC for requests for books from other institutions or internal staff as needed.
Assists as needed with activities in the on-site records holding area: inventory, pulling boxes for shredding, preparing boxes for shipping.
